Mr. Overholtzer died in 1952 at the age of 62 from a heart attack.  He was cremated with his ashes dusted into the river according to his wishes.  When he died his widow Hartense, moved into the cabin on the bend of the river which is now the craft shop.  There she lived with no running water, no electricity and an outdoor bathroom until she died in 1959 at the age of 93. 

Mrs. Overholtzer was 24 years older than Mr. Overholtzer and was actually his grade school teacher.  On her death, she was taken back to Wapakeneta, Ohio for burial.
